As Rush Limbaugh champions the neoconservative movement will this cause more division within the party?

The first elected neocon to the White House was Ronald Reagan. His policies created massive government growth, huge deficits, poverty, Saddam Hussein, and the birth of the corporate vs middle class income gap growth.

Now that neocons fully control the Republican party will neocon champion Rush Limbaugh bring neocons and true conservatives together or further tear them apart?

A bit of humor...

I believe, and I’m hoping that I’m right, that a major rift will occur within the Republican Party in the next three years. And I’m hoping this for the best of America, not because I’m a tree hugging liberal or socialist. I’m conservative, but the Republicans haven’t stood behind their founding principles since the days of Eisenhower in my opinion.

As is apparent during any major power struggle, those facing extinction will use everything at their disposal to stay in the fight. But the Republican Party has been plagued with radical right-wing nut jobs, and crazy Christian Fundamentalists for far too long. It’s an absolute mockery of politics being dumb-down; neither one of these interest groups are even remotely in the best interest of the American people (one believes in money above all else, the other believes in Christian doctrine above all else). The main Republican base has just been catering to certain issues (like Abortion and environmental protection) in order to keep their voters and fundraisers happy.

Similar to as you mentioned with Regards to Reagan; while the media touts that Bush enacted the largest tax cut in recent history (of which, the provisions pertaining to the middle-class are questionable) he also enacted the largest spending increase in recent times as well. This, not to mention all the stupid things that he got our country involved in unnecessarily. But because there has been this large base of stupid Christians, they elected him to office twice, and now they aren’t even able to come to terms with their mistake after 7 years of degradation.

Rush Limbaugh I’m sure, is entertaining the idea of running for public office, and I hope he does so. It will only prove without a reasonable doubt, that the Republican Party exists only in name. Not to mention that you have Dick Cheney sticking his head into the media spotlight, making outrageous claims regarding our national security and putting down Colin Powell (of which, is the only former Bush Admin. official I still have respect for).

If our country manages to readjust itself towards the end of Obama’s first term; I feel that the Republicans will have to restructure completely in order to have a shot for 2016. Hopefully the Republicans shake the Christian Fundamentalist agenda, and stick back to conservative values that limit government and implement policies only according to the times we live in, when it is in the best interest of the American people.

Tear them apart. I think alot of so-called Moderate (normal) Republicans are tired of having their party hijacked by neocon fruitloops.

Why is Rush getting so much attention now? He has been on the radio for 20 years saying the same things he is now. I am amazed by the sudden fascination with him.

I’m sure that the Carter recession and stagflation had nothing to do with poverty. Just like Obama’s rampage on the current economy won’t cause any long term problems or poverty.

Carter was one of the worst presidents in US history and his presidency gave us Reagan. Obama has turned out to be even worse than Carter, will he end up giving us one of the all time great US presidents?

The neocons have controlled the republican party from 1980 to 2006. During that time, republican had the presidency 20 of 28 years (Rep: Reagan-8y, Bush,Sr-4y, Bush, Jr-8y v. Dems: Clinton-8y). The republicans have consistently won on a very conservative platform. This will continue as long as the majority of americans are religious and conservative.

  18. RitchWilliams says:

Um, look up the word ‘neoconservative’ and compare that to the political definition of ‘conservative’. Rush is a conservative, not a neoconservative. Understanding the difference might go a long way toward understanding.

But as to the crux of your question, I don’t know nor particularly care. The only way there could be a ‘division’ would be if the non-conservatives within the Republican party peal off and move in with the democrats where they seem to have more of a home. That would leave the Republican party with a more sound conservative base which this country needs. No one else is looking to advance limited government, fiscal responsibility and freedom. And hey, someone has to.

  19. Free To Be Me says:

Rush Limbaugh says the things that most Republicans believe, he just does it in an excruciatingly rude and mean-spirited way. He is an entertainer, not a political leader. But he has been doing this for years. It wasn’t until the lightweight, thin-skinned whiner got into the White House that Limbaugh "became the voice of the Republicans". Blecch.

On the Ronald Reagan issue. Wow, how does someone get that misinformed? I have been reading Reagan’s Diaries, printed after he died. It was always the Dems who were pushing to spend our money. He fought them all the way, but frequently had to compromise with them. They won over and over until the Republicans took over Congress. Unfortunately, then the Repubs got stupid and started vote-buying just the Dems had been doing then (and are doing again, since they got back in power.)

I am a true conservative. I may not always be a Republican, but I will never be a Democrat.

  20. KRO says:

What on earth are you talking about? Reagan brought massive government? He was the first to decrease the size in decades. Massive government growth, hmm.. kind of like what Obama is doing now? But you claim Reagan increase the size of the gov. "massively," which he did not, and you say that like it’s a bad thing, yet it’s okay when Obama does it? I do not understand your logic. And his policies "created" Saddam Hussein? What is your logic behind that? Huge deficits… I don’t know why you think that’s what Reagan did, but how do you feel about Obama’s projected 10 trillion dollar deficit?

Anyway, Rush has been around for 20 years. He’s not saying anything different, not doing anything different. Why the sudden obsession with him now? Are you afraid of him?

  21. 79vette says:

Well you are totally incorrect but keep drinking the kool aid.
1stlets go back to the Carter5 Administration (dem congress and president), 19% interest rates, 9% unemployment. Oh that was much better wasn’t it! Then RR came in reeduced the real tax rate from mid 60j’s to 38%, gaive us enhanceed IRA and 401(k) which most people have and will nicely augment their pensions. The facts are we had the greates GNP growth in history and the tax reductons resutled in another trillion dollars in tax revenue to the govt. which unfortuantly Obama has notlearned. His tax inreases, cap and trade will decrease the revenue to the govt and we have already seen this quaarters GNP drop by a HUGE 6.3%. The military in 1980 was in shambles. It has been generally accepted that RR military increases and especailly the Anti Ballistic Missle system outpaced the rRussians, plus his verbal call for the end of communism throughout the world, collapsed Communism (even the Russian deputy Gromoko ) said this. It shold also be noted that the Congress remained democratic and contineud to spend, and spedn. Quite frankly I don’t know how you can call into question such a small deficit of RR (especially in relaton to the GNPat the end of 1988, but yet have no problem with OBama’s 1.8 trillion deficit this YEjAR ALONE and an estimated 9 trillion deficit figured ty the office of managment and budget . You are also wrong about the gowth of gove, he reduced the size of the expansion of govt, Obama is inveasing it substantially 20,000 people in th defnece office alone. Obama never ran anything, never rana company, never tan a state, we can’t even see his college records nor his law school records, I wodner why? He led a few community activitits, ACCORN who have commited voter fraud in 14 states and should be in jail. Now thisman who never had a leadership role is going to fix healtcare, the military, two wars, please don’t make me laugh. It’s just a shame we can’t impeach someone for gross iexperience, financial malfeasance, and mortaging our childrens and their childrens future with unbelievable debt, dictating our medical care, and taxing us to the hilt. So stop drinking the kool aide and do a little of your own research. I wonder wy Ronald Reaan won re-election by winnng 49 states and the biggest majority sicne George Washington???
